The 29th Leclaire Parkfest takes place in October

The 29th Leclaire Parkfest will celebrate the history and heritage of the unique neighborhood of over 400 homes, a Victorian-era park, a children’s museum and a community college campus on a Sunday in October.

At the festival, historical photo exhibits and guided walking tours will show visitors the history of the Leclaire National Historic District.

Gaslight Squares will play Dixieland / Ragtime jazz music from noon to 2:30 p.m., followed by bluegrass and other folk music with Lodge Brothers from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the bandstand. On the east side of the park, Cousin Mike and the Hoopties will play Americana music from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Bin 51 will sell a variety of beers and wines to complement a wide variety of festival dishes provided by local nonprofits and food vendors. Craftsmen and craftspeople will have their work displayed and available for purchase. Games, pet adoptions, vintage cars and tractors, and other family activities offer something for all ages. The St. Andrew’s Relay For Life team will host the annual Leclaire Parkfest Book Sale to benefit the American Cancer Society with thousands of books available at bargain prices.

Vendor Coordinator Theresa Morrison shut down vendor applications in mid-September when the festival reached capacity. The only changes needed to accommodate the “new normal” were additional handwashing stations, greater picnic table spacing, and the transformation of cart tours into walking tours this year.

No entry is charged for the festival which, in the tradition of the old Village of Leclaire, is free and open to all. The festival, like many events, was canceled last year due to COVID, but everything indicates that it will resume full swing this year from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at Leclaire Park on Hale Avenue in Edwardsville .
