Kanye West performs to inmates at Harris County jail
The rapper held a massive listening party at the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta, which was attended by around 42,000 fans who paid between $20-$100 per ticket.
In typical Kanye fashion, he reportedly turned up at 9.50pm EST, after the scheduled launch time of 8pm.
West apparently said nothing during the 48 minutes he spent roaming the stadium floor. Fans were instead played the new material loudly over stadium speakers, USA Today reports,
Donda is named after West’s mother, Donda West, who died in 2007 aged 58. She is reportedly heard on the album introducing a song.
West previously said he would drop Donda in July last year, but the album never transpired. West has developed a reputation for missing the release dates for his projects, something fans are already joking about with Donda.
By Friday morning BST, the album had still not emerged, prompting both frustration and amusement from fans.
Kanye Wests’s Instagram account currently displays a total of just five posts.
His two most recent publications, teasers for the new album, were shared yesterday (22 July):

West’s new album comes two years after the release if his gospel-themed album Jesus is King.
The rapper originally announced on Twitter last year that he would release his new album in 2020, but the project was delayed.

Kanye West barely said a word during his album listening session on Thursday night, according to The Associated Press, but he still had most attendees standing on their feet while hanging on every word of his new project.
Pulling off the listening session – which was livestreamed on Apple Music – was an impressive feat for West, who sold out the venue after he announced two days ago that the first public listen of his highly-anticipated album would take place. Some of the big names who attended the event were Rick Ross, Khloe Kardashian, and West’s estranged wife Kim Kardashian West.
West let his music do the talking while most attendees listened in silence and applauded at the end of each track of his album, which features gospel themes, hip-hop vibes, his Auto-Tune vocals, a track featuring his friend and mentor Jay-Z, and recorded speeches made by his mother.

In other Donda-related news, West’s former mentor Jay-Z appears on a track from the new album, suggesting the two artists have ended their feud.
The surprise feature was unveiled during West’s listening party at the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta, where West played the forthcoming album in its entirety to more than 40,000 fans.
On the track, believed to be the final one on the album, Jay-Z apparently teases West about his support for former US president Donald Trump, with a reference to his controversial “red cap” bearing Trump’s slogan, MAGA [Make America Great Again].

Here’s the news we do have: Kim Kardashian supported her ex-husband at a listening party for Donda on Thursday (22 July).
The pair filed for divorce in February after six years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
However, Kardashian still showed up for West, with whom she has four children, at the launch of his 10th studio album.
