Here are some intriguing statistics on the Indian music industry, 2021 edition-Art-and-culture News, Firstpost

The current monetary value of the Indian music industry, according to Vikram Mehra, Managing Director of Saregama and current chairman of the Indian Music Industry trading body, stands at Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,500 crore.

Perhaps that’s because we’ve been so hungry for music festivals over the past 18 months that the announcement of some of the speakers at the annual All About Music conference was met with the same excitement that welcomes the unveiling of the headliners of the festival. Case in point: the social media frenzy sparked by the revelation that the American impresario Scooter Braun was part of the programming for the 2021 edition, which, like the 2020 episode, took place virtually.

Another name that stung the music scene was, which, despite being a digital event, was kind of a no-show. What we got was a replay of a recording of AR Rahman interviewing the Black Eyed Pea, which was already available on YouTube. This time, all the interviews, keynotes, masterclasses, round tables and workshops have been pre-recorded to avoid any live hooks. But that didn’t stop things from turning ugly as was evident in the sync session when director Ken Ghosh repeatedly testified.

The organizers seemed to be playing it safe in more ways than one. We have heard moderators and speakers mention that they are going to avoid asking or saying anything controversial. This was surprising because in the past, All About Music was one of the few places where costumes in the industry were made to answer tough questions in the public domain. As a result, there were fewer concrete statistics shared, which is why my annual roundup of the most intriguing numbers heard at the conference is shorter than usual. Here are a dozen numbers that got me to my notepad.
