A sick online predator treated a schoolgirl online before having sex with her in a hotel and abandoned monument.
Robert Smith treated his victim with trips to the movies and to McDonald’s before abusing her.
Smith, 34, has traveled from Halifax to sexually exploit the teenager on several occasions, including taking indecent photos of her.
Today he was jailed for four years and eight months, reports Live shell.
Hull Crown Court overheard Smith – who had just become a father for the first time – started chatting with the victim on social media after posting to the Omegle website: ‘I’m bored [age]. Send me a message.”
Richard Thompson, prosecuting, said: “She made it clear that she was right [age]. She was to tell the police when she spoke to him that she knew he was 33 years old.
“She knew he was married with a child and worked at Lidl or Aldi.”
The couple exchanged more messages on Snapchat before it was agreed two weeks later that Smith would travel to Hull to meet her.
They met on the street near her school and Smith took the girl to the cinema in St Stephens Mall and then to McDonalds.
He then dropped the girl off after they kissed and kissed in his car.
On their second meeting, Smith again took the girl to McDonalds and then told her that he had not been paid and therefore could not afford a hotel room.
Instead, he pulled a blanket out of his car and took the girl to the abandoned Lord Line building on St Andrew’s Wharf, where they had sex.
For their next meeting, Smith booked a room in a hotel, where they had sex “several times” in the afternoon. The victim said she would have to leave at 7 p.m. as she was due to be home at 7:30 p.m.
In another meeting, Smith took the girl for a Chinese buffet before going to the same hotel for sex.
A friend of the victim went to the hotel to borrow £ 10 from Smith.
A plot was hatched to allow the victim to spend the night in the hotel by telling a relative she was staying at a friend’s house – Smith calling the relative claiming to be the friend’s father.
Smith, of Bentley Avenue, Halifax, was arrested three days later. When we spoke to the girl, she confirmed that they had had sex.
Police were to make further disturbing discoveries when they seized Smith’s cell phones. In total, they contained 37 indecent pictures of children as young as five in category A – the most serious – 31 in category B and 47 pictures in category C.
Officers also found 242 “extreme porn images” and movies on a memory card, which were largely of women having sex with dogs.
Smith had also discussed bestiality with “particular types of dogs,” the court said.
In addition to the explicit search terms for “young girls,” his devices also revealed that Smith had searched for “I slept with a girl I didn’t know was a minor. Can I be charged with legal rape if the other party does not support charges? “
He initially denied meeting or having sex with the victim, but later admitted to having sex involving “spanking” and “slight choking,” Thompson said.
“He said he took pictures of her naked and engaged in sexual activity, but always said he believed her to be 18 years old.”
Smith was unable to give any explanation when police later showed him the victim’s full name and date of birth in a note on his phone.
Smith admitted seven offenses of sexual activity with a child, three of taking indecent photographs and one of possession of extreme pornography. He had no previous convictions.
The girl refused to give a victim impact statement.
Michael Greenhalgh, mitigating, said: “There is no excuse for the behavior Mr. Smith has been involved in. He accepts it and understands, given where this case falls within the sentencing guidelines. , he will be liable to a custodial sentence this morning. “
Mr Greenhalgh said Smith’s wife fell ill after the birth of their first child, and “it seems that was a trigger for her life to start falling apart.
“The severing of his relationship with his wife took him to the Internet, and it was because of this that he was able to demonstrate a totally inappropriate degree of sexual inhibition.
“It seems trite now to apologize for what he did, but he’s sorry.
In addition to imprisoning Smith, Judge Paul Watson QC, Honorary Registrar of Hull and East Riding, placed him on a Sexual Injury Prevention Order for ten years. He must register for life as a sex offender.
Speaking after the hearing, Detective Sergeant Stuart Fox of the Humberside Police Child Sexual Exploitation Team said: “The victim in this investigation was, and still is, a vulnerable child. The real extent of the effect of this is not yet known and it is supported by the relevant agencies.
“Detective Constable Nicola Gibbs worked with the victim and due to the officer’s experience we are very grateful that the victim was able to tell us what happened to her.
“If anyone thinks they have been sexually exploited, or if they know someone who has, you can call us with confidence. We will listen and we will take action.”
